Sports at the ARC
Astoria Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of recreation leagues and open gym options available for both YOUTH and ADULTS. It's all about having fun! You can register for sports programs by following THIS LINK.
Girls' Volleyball Clinic, Grades 3-6 
This program places an emphasis on teaching the values of good sportsmanship, teamwork, goal setting and skill development in a fun, esteem-promoting atmosphere. Children will have the opportunity to learn the basic volleyball fundamentals such as underhand serving, setting, hitting, and digging in a non-competitive environment.
Clinic runs April 23rd-May 23rd, Tuesday and Thursday evenings, Astoria Middle School, $40/5 week session. Registration closes 4/30.
This introductory class focuses on allowing youth to gain self confidence and learn the art of non-violence and civility. This incredibly rewarding martial art teaches the student to rely on skill and body mechanics instead of physical strength when dealing with an opponent. Register by the first day of class.
Monday evenings 6pm-7pm, Astoria Recreation Center, Ages 8 & up, $55/seven week session

This program is designed to help children learn the basics of Flag Football, including the fundamentals of throwing, blocking, flag pulling, running and teamwork. Players will play at least half of each game. For grades K-4th.
Register by 8/02, Season is August 19th to October 19th. Practices based on coaches' availability and will generally be weekday evenings, twice a week until games start, once a week after games start; Times & Locations TBD, Cost is $55.
This program will continue to build on the basic skills like shooting, passing, dribbling and teamwork, while increasing competition levels for each grade. Each player plays at least half of each game.
Register by October 11, Season is October 17th to January 17th. Practices based on coaches' availability and will generally be weekday evenings, twice a week until games start, once a week after games start; Times & Locations TBD, Cost is $60.
