Terry
Corbit started in the fire service, as a high school senior, with the
Unalaska Fire Department in January 1985 as a volunteer. In March 1986,
Terry joined Pierce County Fire District #9 as a resident firefighter.
Terry had the opportunity to work as a temporary firefighter twice for
the City of Puyallup for 6 months and 4 months. Also once for Pierce
County Fire District #9 for 4 months. In
April 1990, Terry was hired by the City of Astoria as a full-time
career firefighter. Terry was promoted to Driver/Engineer in November
of 1993, to Lieutenant in March of 2008, and to Deputy Chief in June,
2019.
Terry
attended L.H. Bates Vocational Technical and completed their Fire
Science Program. Terry attended Clatsop Community College and Portland
Community College. He has earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree
in Fire Science. Terry is an Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate,
Hazardous Materials Technician, and Instructor I. Terry also recently
completed the required training for certification as a Maritime
Operator.
Terry
is currently the fire department’s training officer. Terry supervises
the three Lieutenants, represents management on the department safety
committee, investigates accident/incidents that occur within the
organization. He is also the department’s quartermaster and responsible
for pump testing.
