The City of Astoria has activated its hydroelectric turbine at the City's headworks near the Bear Creek Dam. The 30kW turbine will generate approximately 150,000 kilowatt hours of electricity annually, enough to power the City's water treatment system and lab. Excess power will be fed into the PacifiCorp Blue Sky Customers Energy Trust of Oregon, and the State of Oregon Infrastructure Finance Authority.
